In 1979, an investigating committee set up by the New Zealand government in 1976, published a report and wrote in its summary of findings that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chiropractors are the only medical profession which by definition is competent enough, on the basis of the training, to apply corrections to the spinal column.<\/li>\n<li>Corrections to the spinal column are extremely safe in the hands of a recognized chiropractor.<\/li>\n<li>Chiropractic is a safe and effective form of treatment for the whole family.
